How to deal with severe bruises and burns in children? Dr. Prameela (Consultant Paediatrician, KIMS Trivandrum) explains that in case of bruises and cuts, they are easily manageable and painkillers can be given if there's pain and in case of wounds simple dressing can be done. When it comes to burns, then parents need to manage them properly. When a child comes to the emergency, the percentage of burns is assessed. In the case of 10% to 20%, one is to be given antibiotics and local applicants so that the pain gets managed. In case of severe burns, the child has to be admitted and has to be under the care pediatrician and a surgeon for proper management of the burns. Managing the burns with proper care can be accomplished so as to avoid and scar-like situation. There are various methods through which these can be managed.
