How to live with anaphylaxis and be prepared for it? Dr. Prameela (Consultant Paediatrician, KIMS Trivandrum) explains if the child had an episode of severe allergy or anaphylaxis requiring emergency management and pediatric ICU management then one should be prepared for the next severe episode. Any food or any other triggering agent can cause the child to be in such a situation. Parents are trained how to manage these kids. So whenever the first symptoms like rash, breathlessness, etc. we advise them to give adrenaline injection. If the child is at school or at home there is not much time to bring the child to the hospital as it can delay treatment or maybe death. Thus it is advised to keep the adrenaline at all times for children who are prone to anaphylaxis.
