Cardiac Thoracic Vascular Anesthesiology
At KIMSHEALTH, the Department of Cardiac Thoracic & Vascular Anesthesiology delivers specialized anesthesia and perioperative care for patients undergoing complex heart, lung, and vascular surgeries. Our experienced team of cardiac anesthesiologists plays a pivotal role in ensuring patient safety, stability, and comfort throughout every phase — from preoperative evaluation to postoperative recovery in the Cardiac Thoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU).
Comprehensive Expertise Across Advanced Cardiac Care
Our department provides anesthesia for a wide range of procedures, including:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
- Valve Repair and Replacement Surgeries
- Aortic and Vascular Procedures
- Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS)
- Thoracic and Pulmonary Surgeries
Expertise in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgeries (MICS)
KIMSHEALTH is among the few centers offering Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgeries, which demand specialized anesthesia techniques and precision monitoring. Our anesthesiology team utilizes advanced hemodynamic control, single-lung ventilation, and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) to ensure accurate intraoperative cardiac assessment. These techniques allow for smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery — all while maintaining the highest level of patient safety.
Anesthesia for Complex Cath Lab Interventions
Our anesthesiologists play a vital role in providing anesthesia and hemodynamic support during high-risk and complex interventional cardiology procedures performed in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab).
These include:
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR/TAVI)
- Mitral and Tricuspid Valve Repairs (MitraClip, TriClip)
- Device Closures for ASD, VSD, and PDA
- Electrophysiological (EP) Studies and Ablations
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI) in High-Risk Cases
- Endovascular and Peripheral Vascular Interventions
Our anesthesiology team ensures continuous cardiovascular monitoring, airway management, and rapid response to emergencies, maintaining stability throughout the procedure. By combining expertise with advanced imaging and monitoring technology, we ensure precision and safety even in high-risk, minimally invasive cardiac interventions.
Advanced Critical Care and ECMO Support
Our anesthesiologists are also integral to the management of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) — a life-saving technology used in cases of severe cardiac or respiratory failure. The team works closely with cardiac surgeons and intensivists to initiate, monitor, and manage ECMO support, ensuring optimal oxygenation and hemodynamic stability in critically ill patients.
Postoperative Care in CTICU
Following surgery, patients are transitioned to the Cardiac Thoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) for round-the-clock monitoring and recovery. Our anesthesiology team continues to provide:
- Comprehensive hemodynamic and ventilatory support
- Advanced pain management protocols
- Early extubation and enhanced recovery pathways
- Continuous collaboration with cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, and nurses
This integrated approach ensures a smooth transition from surgery to recovery, minimizing complications and promoting faster rehabilitation.
Our Commitment
With cutting-edge technology, expert clinicians, and evidence-based care, the Cardiac Thoracic & Vascular Anesthesiology Department at KIMSHEALTH stands as a cornerstone of patient-centered cardiac care. Every heartbeat is safeguarded with precision, compassion, and excellence.
