KIMSHEALTH Thiruvananthapuram Gives New Life to Anaghendu After Liver Failure Caused by Jaundice
Fourteen-year-old Anaghendu’s life took a critical turn when jaundice led to liver failure. She was urgently transferred from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College to KIMSHEALTH for advanced care. A liver transplant was recommended as the only life-saving option.
Her mother donated a portion of her liver, and the transplant surgery was successfully completed. Today, with her mother’s liver and a renewed lease on life, Anaghendu has returned to school — wearing the bright smile of life.
The 10-hour-long transplant was led by Dr. Shabeerali T.U. (Senior Consultant & Chief Coordinator, Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic & Liver Transplant Surgery) and Dr. Shiras Ahmed Rather (Senior Consultant & Clinical Chair, Transplant Services). The surgical and medical team also included Dr. Varghese Eldo, Dr. Hashir E., Dr. Prijith R.S., Dr. Abhijith Uttaman, Dr. Madhu Shashidharan, Dr. Anu K. Vasu, Dr. Manish Kumar Yadav, Dr. Manoj K.S., and Dr. Shijukumar.
