A 47-year-old man in critical condition following multiple consecutive heart attacks was given a new lease on life at KIMSHEALTH, Thiruvananthapuram. He collapsed at his workplace and was first admitted to a nearby hospital before being transferred to KIMSHEALTH for specialized treatment.

The patient was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition called ventricular fibrillation, which causes abnormal heart rhythms, and required multiple emergency defibrillations. He also experienced repeated episodes of cardiac arrest. Under the leadership of Dr. Anis Tajuddin, Senior Consultant in Cardiology and Electrophysiology, the team initiated emergency interventions, including mapping and ablation of ventricular tachycardia.

Following treatment, the patient’s condition improved rapidly, returning to normal. The repeated cardiac arrests had also adversely affected the functioning of other organs such as the kidneys and liver. However, after the procedure, dialysis was gradually discontinued, and after a six-week hospital stay, the patient was discharged home.

The procedure was supported by Dr. Shaji Palangadan (Senior Consultant, Cardiothoracic Surgery), Dr. Satheesh B. (Senior Consultant, Nephrology), and Cardiac Anaesthesia Consultants Dr. Subhash S. and Dr. Anil Radhakrishnan Pillai.
