Here are certain ways by which you can train your brain to improve its performance.

1)Train your memory

From remembering names to key statistics during negotiations, memory is a key skill that you have to nurture and improve. The brain develops millions of neural pathways that help you process and retrieve information quickly. However, that is not enough when you are aiming to improve brain capacity. You have to make your brain work and train your memory. Take some time out and play memory games.

2) Do something new

Get out of your comfort zone. Give your brain something new to ponder about and tackle. Make sure you do at least one task that stimulates your brain. Try and memorize at least one number a day from your phonebook. Ban the calculator – do some mental math. All these stimulate the brain.

3) Meditate

In addition to being relaxing and soothing, meditation also increases gray matter in the brain. Meditation also increases short-term memory. Next time you meditate pay attention to minute details around you. You will be surprised by the results.

4)Stay Healthy

A healthy mind requires a healthy body. The food you eat, the workout you do and the alertness you maintain reflects on your brain capacity. Our brain consumes over 20% of all nutrients and oxygen that we consume. Hence, it is important to include nuts, fish, tea, leafy greens and eggs in your diet. It is important to keep stress in check for maintaining a healthy mind.

5)Get enough sleep & rest

Last, but not least, it is absolutely essential that you catch up on sleep and rest. Studies say that sleep is required to consolidate memory and learning. If you sleep less, the gray matter begins to decrease.
