A one day conference on Disaster Preparedness was organized at KIMS Hospital, Trivandrum in association with the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority. The conference was inaugurated by Shri Justice P Sathasivam, the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala and presided by Dr M I Sahadulla, Chairman KIMS Group in the eminent presence of Dr G Vijayaraghavan, Vice Chairman, Mr E M Najeeb, Executive Director, Dr P M Zuhara, Coordinator-Family and Emergency Medicine, Dr Sekhar Lukose Kuriakose, Member Secretary, Kerala Disaster Management Authority, and many other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Governor Shri P Sathasivam complimented KIMS Group for taking the leadership in arranging a series of deliberations on the topic that requires Kerala’s urgent attention. He further added that the Kollam fire disaster at Puttingal temple, Paravur, could have been avoided with proper planning and preventive measures.

Dr Muzaffar Ahmad, Former National Disaster Management Authority Member, Dr Sekhar Lukose Kuriakose, Member Secretary, Kerala Disaster Management Authority, Shri Shefeen Ahamed IPS, Mr Markose Abraham, Chief News Editor, Malayala Manorama, Trivandrum, Ms Sruthy Ravindran, Hazard Analyst, Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, Dr Gangalal GM, Dr Anoop T Chakrapani, Emergency Medicine, KIMS, were among the key panelists who spoke on their diverse experiences in handling various disasters.

The conference was well – attended by representatives from the Police, Army, Navy, Defense, Air-force, various government organizations and hospitals in public and private sector and also from various schools, colleges, corporate and media houses
