KIMSHEALTH accredited as 'Advanced Stroke Center' by Quality and Accreditation Institute

The Stroke Unit of KIMSHEALTH has been accredited by Quality and Accreditation Institute (QAI) as an 'Advanced Stroke Center'. The accreditation comes in the wake of the assessment by QAI, which was found complying with the requirements of the Accreditation Standards for Advanced Stroke Center. Only a few centers in India have received the QAI accreditation, and KIMSHEALTH is the first center in South Kerala to receive this recognition.

The accreditation is given only to centers with advanced stroke treatment facilities. The stroke unit of KIMSHEALTH, which comes under the Department of Neurosciences, has round the clock services of neurologists, interventional radiologists, radiologists and neurosurgeons. The Department of Neurosciences helmed by Dr. Syamlal S, Senior Consultant, Department of Neurology, Dr. Santhosh Joseph, Dr. Manish Kumar Yadav, Senior Consultants, Department of Neurointerventional Radiology and Dr. Ajith R, Senior Consultant, Department of Neurosurgery is equipped with the state of the art facilities for emergency imaging of the brain with either CT scan or MRI, intravenous thrombolysis, Cath lab with facility for Mechanical Thrombectomy, surgical procedures like Decompressive Hemicraniectomy and comprehensive stroke rehabilitation.

The unit is also supported with specially trained nurses, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. “This recognition is a proof of the pursuit of KIMSHEALTH to provide high-quality healthcare to all in need. The Department of Neurosciences at KIMSHEALTH is undoubtedly one of the best in the country and is on par with international standards and I am sure a lot of people can be benefited by the facilities provided by the department”, said Dr. M.I.
